Who Am I?
About
I am Sue Balkin-Mitchell, and I have enjoyed working as a psychologist in rural and regional Victoria for over 15 years. I have always held an acute curiosity about human behaviour; why it is we think or behave the way we do. My psychology studies have fed this curiosity, by exploring the intricacies of thoughts, emotions, and behaviours, that foster in clients a deeper self-understanding that paves the way for personal growth and well-being.
I commenced my undergraduate training at Monash University, Melbourne, my post-graduate training at Deakin University, before moving into adult public mental health settings to finalise my registration.
Extensive Experience
Working in public mental health for many years offered me great exposure to a broad range of mental health difficulties, including low prevalence disorders and acute presentations. In recent years, I have been working in private practice, with late adolescents and adults, aged 16 and over.
I enjoy working with a broad range of presentations and like to keep abreast of new and emerging techniques to enhance therapy, as well as the tried-and-true modalities. When not working, I am running around after my own two rug-rats and enjoying time with family and friends, preferably at a beach!
